Frequently Asked Questions

The NCU Helpline is a 24-hour line for NUS students and staff affected by sexual misconduct, or for someone who knows of an NUS student or staff affected by sexual misconduct, to seek help and advice.

For general advice and/or crisis emergency:

Normal office hours: Mondays to Fridays (9 AM to 5 PM)

For crisis emergency only:

After office hours, on weekends, and on public holidays. Examples of a crisis emergency requiring NCU’s immediate attention are:
    1. When a person needs advice or psychological support following a serious sexual misconduct (e.g., sexual assault)
    2. When a person is adversely affected by sexual misconduct (e.g., having active thoughts of self-harm, experiencing severe panic/anxiety attacks)
    3. When a person knows of another who is currently experiencing any of the above situations

A trained care professional would attend to your call.

For non-emergency requests made outside normal office hours, a care professional will record and attend to it by the next working day.

The care professional may request for your name, matriculation number or staff ID, and/or other relevant personal particulars to facilitate work or referral.

The care professional may perform psychological first aid and/or activate relevant resources, such as the Campus Emergency & Security (CES), to render immediate assistance including on-site support.

Your privacy is important to us.

The care professional will protect all personal data and information, subject to limits of confidentiality.

  1. It is not available to non-NUS students and staff.
  2. It is not tantamount to lodging a formal report with the Campus Emergency & Security (CES), Office of Risk Management and Compliance (ORMC), and/or the Police.
  3. It is not a helpline for legal advice.

If you encounter any issues with the NCU Helpline, please contact us through an alternate mode of communication.
